16x08 - Do the EQ and Comp settings affect the input?

Hi,

thinking about getting a 16x08. When I use EQ and compressor on the input signals, will these effects also apply to the signal that I record on my PC? Or do I get the raw signal and the effects only apply to the monitoring mix?

Also: Is there really no way of using the device as a preamp for the 8 mic channels while still recording the input via USB? (this way I could do the monitor mix on my mixer)

the effects print on the audio going into your daw. So it's (pre-amp, tascam mixer, daw.)
Not sure bout 2nd question. I think the interface automatically switches to interface mode when usb is plugged in
