Can the spdif on the 2488 be used as an output, and if so, how do you set it up

Do you know if the tascam uses internal time clock for spdif, or if it relies on an external clock?

S/PDIF is a self-clocking protocol, so accuracy is fully dependent on the DAC of the receiving side.. That would mean the internal clock is used, and I don't know if the 2488 even has the option for an external clock.
