Connecting a DR-10L to my Mac

I'm using a Mac. Operating system 10.12.3.
I've connected the recorder directly to One of the computers USB ports. The manual says once connected a screen will appear. This screen allows me to choose from between power or storage. That's Screen is not showing up no matter what I do. I've connected the device with the power off and with the power on and neither way produces the screen. The icon is not showing up on my desktop.

When connecting the recorder with its power off, it turns the power on but the power/storage screen does not show up

Hi Steve
What firmware version do you have for the Dr-10L?
I have v1.00 0007

I see new firmware for the Dr-10C but not the 10L
