I'm just now making some mixes for the completion of CD projects.
Jamsire and Jim have offered some great possibilities for using the DM onboard automation with the DAW.
It would be great to have the combo of DAW and DM automation/
Is there a way to record the DM onboard automation to an editable track in the DAW?
E.G. I have a stereo piano track that I can pan and level in the DM.
Can I record those automation changes to a simultaneous DAW track?
Sorry for my slow brain.
Much gratitude for your help.

The answer is YES. It depends on what software you are using. PT - no. You have to use the remote layer.

Cubase - YES - please watch the MIDI setup portion of my Pro Tools video, then watch the Cubase video to see how I do MIDI Learn. I believe it will work the same in Logic, SONAR, and Ableton.

Thanks for the excellent info!
I set up a template in my DAW to record all 16 channels of DM midi controller info.
Pretty cool!
Tested it on a mix tonight.
Great to have all of the DM faders and pans recorded on the DAW.
Only snag I ran into was trying to automate a fader group.
I had 12 tracks of drums grouped to a fader and when I moved that fader, all the tracks collapsed to zero.
I suspect user error.
I will test and figure it out.
Much gratitude!
