DP-03 for Dummies

I just purchased the Tascam DP-03, and I'm having issues due to my ignorance. I have recorded a song from the internal speakers, and burned the song to a CD-R. The manual tells me in order to playback on a computer CD drive, I will need to "Finalize" the CD. When I do this, the CD is ejected, and tells me the CD is not an audio CD. The only way I can listen to what's recorded, is to use headphones connected to the DP-03. I'm using a new blank Memorex 52x 700mb 80 min CD-R.

What am I doing wrong?

A bit late, you've probably sorted yourself out in the past 5 years or given up, but I just bought a DP03 and I am Using TDK CDR 80 discs They work.
