After Windows 10 was launched, not sure if from the start or after, I was able to use my FW-1884, resorting to the classical trickery of the legacy FireWire driver and so forth.
Then, a new update came and it didn't work anymore, so I've let the Tascam unused for a long time.
I've tried again a month ago after having installed Windows 10 October 2018 Update - before Microsoft took it down.
I'm very happy to report it has worked flawlessly since then.
And, I'm using the Texas Instrument OHCI driver, not the legacy driver.
Before reaching this result, I've reread the user guide entirely. The FW-1884 is a complex tool, and configurations in one mode may affect another mode. I'd recommend trying to set things back to what they are out of the box before going further.
Unfortunately, I don't know of a full reset instruction.
SHIFT-CTRL-F8 does reset some parameters, but not all.
Good luck,
Cedric
PS. I'm using Windows 10 Pro 64 bits.
I'm using the Tascam mostly with Studio One 4 and Reason 10. I may give Sonar Platinum, which I used for years, another try now that it was bought by BandLab, but I spent a decent amount of time learning Studio One after Cakewalk's demise.
