Hi, Can anyone give a guide on how to load VST plugins onto the X48?

what effects plug-ins are available today that work with the x48? and where to source the plug-ins , reverbs delays etc?

Any info would be most appreciated

The only info I could find was in the user manual - page 49 for the original x-48:

VST Plug-ins

At the time of this writing, the following plug-ins have been qualified for installation and use on the X-48. Please check the TASCAM web site for updates.

• Waves 5 (using the iLok key)

• Antares Auto Tune 4

——-
The X-48 officially supports Waves plug-ins and Antares Auto-Tune plug-in.

Both Waves and Antares require an iLok dongle for copy protection. Authorize the dongle on a computer then plug it into the X-48’s USB jack when prompted by the plug-in installer.

CAUTION

Other plug-ins have not been tested and may result in undesired operation, requiring the X-48 be reloaded from the factory restore CD.

To install plug-ins, do one of the following:

• Insert the installer CD in the X-48. If there’s an

autorun.exe file on the CD, just follow the prompts as you would on a computer. Install the plug-ins in D:\FreewareVST.

• Use the Launch External Application command in the File menu to run the installer on the CD, then follow the prompts. Install the plug-ins in D:\FreewareVST.

Many thanks, I’ve picked up an nice x48 with the two optional 24 channel analog cards, so 48 ins and outs, looking to use for mixing but would need reverbs / delays etc, any ideas? Not sure if any on board reverbs, but looking to add this in if possible?

many thanks to all, and any advice most appreciated

I would try to get your hands on Waves 5.0 - might not be super easy, but it will be a suite of plugins that TASCAM said will work on the x-48 back in 2004 or so :) eg https://www.kvraudio.com/news/waves_v5_0_released_1981

Waves had TrueVerb, and a number of delays, so u might also check out other Waves vst plugins from that 5.0 era, for example installers can be found here: https://www.kvraudio.com/product/trueverb-by-waves

the biggest difficulty once u find a working vst will be surmounting any copy protection schemes.

Good luck!
