Tascamdp 24 sd
Hi guys
Messing about with a drum track last night
and it was noticeable that the Mixer button [left side of screen] DP 24 sd.
Needs more of a push than the others ,this is a very recent development.
Its still under warranty .

To be honest guys .... any thoughts.

You got me wondering so I went into the studio to try my buttons.
I see no difference between the mixer button and the others. Maybe my assign button is a little softer than the others but this is very subjective.

Perhaps just a quality control difference between a $500 unit and a unit that costs a lot more.
But if you think it's a problem maybe exercise your warrantee.
Good luck, hope you don't have a problem.

Hi
Just checked the warranty and the Tascam is out of date.by one month.
So am looking at maybe going to Tascam for the repair.
Will call them today and see what happens.
Hope its not to expensive.

Tyros.

I am hoping for a quick and cheap (or free) recovery!

I do think it is very cool that we can pull out our SD car, buy a new machine for not a whole lot, slide the card in, and get back to work. A while back, that would involve, at best, transferring a hard drive from machine to machine. Back in the day, equipment failures could mean lots of dollars!

If warranty does not come to the rescue... Have you used some compressed air to blow any junk out from under the button?

I wonder how hard it would be to replace the button, and/or the switch.

If you check with a Tascam service center they might just honor the warranty being only a month out.

You mentioned: Needs more of a push than the others.
Is it that much of a problem that you might being paying for a repair?
Does it electronically switch ok?
Could something small have fallen down between the switch and case making it tighter?

Hi
Sorry for the delay in responding.
I am worried that this button maybe the start of a bigger problem with that individual switch board.
Apparently the four buttons down the left side all share the same board.
So I thought I might stop this before it gets worse and I end up losing even more buttons.
It all worked fine out of the box and has been reliable .
The machine is always covered when not in use and is spotlessly clean so I don't think its grime.
That button suddenly seems to need a bit more pressure to activate.
I think if I keep having to press harder on that button it might affect the next one above and below it.
I assure you I have no wish for a costly and pointless repair but I love owning the tascam
and need it to work well.
Thankyou for your help guys
Tyros

Hi, I've been away for awhile.
Did you get your unit looked at?

Hi all.
I am waiting for the button to pack up,I might as well get as much
from that board as I can.It will cost about 100 UK pounds to fix.
when it brakes completely I will update this thread and let you know what happens.
Hope nothing else goes wrong in the meantime.
Thanks guys.
