Being technically illiterate I seek advice on how to achieve transferring a track composed on Ableton Live to a free track on the DP32(the version with midi). I can do this already but I have to adjust tempo incrementally until it matches the tracks already recorded on the DP32. I only have midi facility on the Focusrite interface linked to the computer and of course the DP32. Is this possible?

You'd be best getting Ableton to sync to the DP32. In essence (you may need to Google detailed instructions if you don't know the precise way to do these steps, but they're easy once you've done it once or twice):

Connect Midi out on the DP32 to the midi in on your Focusrite.

Make sure you've enabled track and sync midi for the Focusrite midi inputs in Ableton's preferences.

Set Ableton to slave to (receive) midi clock

Set DP32 to send midi clock (ie be clock master)

Route your audio (ableton out, DP in) and record arm the Tascam

Make sure that Ableton is not record armed (to avoid overwriting any tracks there, when you hit record on the Tascam)

Hit record on the Tascam - Ableton should play back (it is worth leaving a blank bar at the start to let the clock settle down) and the DP should record the output

That should pretty much be that! Good luck.
