hello everybody! i've just run into a problem with a 414 mkii, which i have never encountered before. it seems like an easy fix, but i've had no luck so far.
so, yesterday this machine couldn't even play back. it had been plugged in to a fostex cntr+ adaptor. i changed the four output capacitors and that solved that problem. (c104, c204, c304, & c404.)
then i discovered that the ch1 gain "mini-fader" is doing nothing, the main ch1 fader doesnt mute if you roll it all the way off, and ch1 is still slightly audible even on mic/line mode (unless you engage ch1 recording.) the still-audible recording is not affected by the pan pot, although if you turn the fader up, you can pan it (the same small-amount stays in the center.)
if you are still with me, i salute you.
here's my assumption:
it seems to me that this gain/trim "mini-fader" has shorted, and is now somehow sending signal to the master fader.
does that make sense to you?
anybody run into this one before?
