New DR-05X issue

This is my first digital recorder. I'll be using it for video.

Having set it up and tried it, I've identified a problem, but I'm not sure if I have a defective unit, or have set it up incorrectly.

When I record using the built-in mics, only the left one seems to work. Playback through headphones or computer is only on the left channel. Connecting an external mic, playback is only on the left channel. The issue is the same whether recording in stereo or mono.

The first thing I would do is, undo whatever changes were made and see if the unit records and plays back on both channels. I would do a factory reset and make a few recordings using the default settings.
