New Tascam Model 24 inputs to DAW problem

I recently changed out my home studio with a Tascam Model 24 to be used primarily as an interface into my computer and Cakewalk Sonar platinum DAW. Have issues getting the inputs to work between the two. I did download the software from Tascam for Windows and it does recognize the model 24 in my computer. Can someone help out with suggestions on the sound settings in windows for playback and record and also what needs to be switched on or off on the Tascam Model 24 so I can get inputs to read and sound to and from my computer. Thanks
