I just got this Tascam 24sd and the first song I recorded stats to slow down and drag like an old analog tape. Then it picks back up...then drags again. Any ideas what could be causing this?

Doug, there are no moving parts to slow down and speed up. There are no internal circuit latency issues. There are no speed change/pitch circuits to go awry.
It might help if you tell us exactly what you're putting down on your tracks, how you're putting them down, and which tracks are exhibiting this very odd/impossible behavior.
