Hey,
So I'm looking at getting some new to me, but used monitors. I'm checking these JBL LSR305 Studio Monitors out. 1) are they equal to, or better than the Sterling MX 5's I already have (one if which is shot), and 2) the guy wants $160.00 for a pair. Your opinions would be much appreciated

JBL's reputation for well made, neutral reference monitors is long-standing. There are numerous reviews of the JBL 305s & 308s on the 'net. Personally, absent a sub-woofer, I wouldn't mix for commercial sale/radio release using anything less than neutral, 8" bi-amped speakers. If that's your direction, you might want to look for the lsr 308s instead (about $500US/pair new). Are JBLs better made? I would hope so. Check the reviews on line and decide for yourself.

Amazon has the 305s ($260US/pair new):

So does Sweetwater.

How confident are you in buying them used?

Hey,
I've never been unsatisfied with used equipment. From guitars to TV's and cars, I've never had issues until now with the Sterlings. I don't think I will let this be the event to change that, but I'm not shy from buying new either. So, adding a sub woofer into the mix would be a good idea in your opinion then? Thanks for the input..
