Tascam 424 mk I issue - cant play cassette

Hello everyone! I have an issue with my 4 track.

Yesterday I took it to work with my music and it cant play a cassette. I've checked belts and they are in good condition.

My Tascam now can only thing fast forward. When I press Play heads are up on a second and then go back. Rewind works more slowly then in normal condition.

Any suggestion what it could be and how to fix it?

A lot depends on the mechanism type which can be found out by examination. Some are cam driven from capstan belt, some are belt driven cam by a separate motor some are gear driven by a mechanism motor- All of these have failed at one time or another for the same reason- they used a grease that hardens and make it difficult to impossible for the system to move the parts.
I have been dealing with this for a long time and so cleaning out old grease and putting in Lubriplate 105 seem to always be the solution. the problem is that some of these mechanism take a good amount of time to take apart- I have a 122 mk III to do later today.
