Troubleshooting cascade connection

I sent the diagrams in the forum here to a pro cable maker, he made it, and I plugged it in to both 4800's, following all directions.

Now I've tried both consoles as masters or slaves and each give me the "no connection" message.

My first thought is that the cable isn't right.

Is there a way to see if the console is even reading the presence of a cable there?

Any other tips?
