I have just seen about the new X8. I've got into a great work mode using my DP008ex for vocals before transferring to my DP32sd for extra guitars and mixdown. The DP008ex could fail at any moment, the rate I've been using it (100 complex tracks in 18 months) so am tempted by the X8 as a back up. I'm not sure if it allows for compression on vocal record (I use vocal type 2 a lot) , reverb monitor and punch in. Anyone have any ideas?

I tried looking at the manual (owner's manual available for download here: https://tascam.com/downloads/products/tascam/portacapture_x8/7l_portacapture_x8_om_vc2.pdf and reference manuaul available here: https://manual.tascam.jp/portacaptu...150.436648061.1637260025-532606610.1617566817) but couldn't make it out.
I then downloaded the app that you can use to control the X8 (free) but unfortunately you won't access any of it's features until you've paired your smartphone and the app with an X8. So - hard to say.

But ... since it's aimed at so may things, not only music, but podcasts and other things, I would be surprised if you couldn't do these things you want.

Thank! I had a look at the diagram and it seems there is a punch, presumably a button on the recorder. Not sure how to read with regard to being able to have reverb in the phones when singing but recording dry. Does it seem to you it can do this?

Have just had a look through the manual and it seems reverb is added to the recording, no way to record dry with reverb monitor and apply it in the mix. Also no punch in jack so have to use fiddly buttons. A bit of a shame as otherwise it looks a great recorder. Will stick to the DPoo8ex for the initial vocals!
