  • Hi. I had a question about including a link in my posts. Is it allowed? Of course, it would be a link pertaining to recording and related sound issues.
    Thanks...

Hello MJK, how are you? I bet you were missing me and my long messages, hahaha. I haven't sent you my mix yet because I'm changing everything from the start. I've recovered my electronic drumset and I'm looking for a sound I like, doing adjustments and things like that. And finding a good balance to compensate for the compression. So I just write to say hello and tell you that I haven't forgot about the mix

Yeah, I was missing my daily dose of Bambi, lol. That's cool. Take your time and get it how you like. Don't settle and don't rush. In the meantime, I have plenty going on with my own projects and several others'. Thanks for the shout.

Ok, MJK. Thank you for your words. I'm following your and Mark Richards advice and trying to get the best sound and adjustments at origin, so my later work is easier. Good luck with your present projects
Hello mjk, I saw a post from sept where you mentioned you're friend Dennis who was capable of devising an external display solution.

If so what would be the price cause i would be interested in obtaining it for my dm3200 since 2seemy has stopped working.

We do not have a Tascam console to work with so we would not be able to implement such a solution.

My original comment was about Dennis being able to find a suitable replacement based on a manufacturer's part number. So far we have not been given that information.
Hi, I saw your posts where you said to figured out how to sync DP-32 to external gear and wondered if you could help me. I want to sync my DP-24 to Logic Pro X, are you familiar with it by any chance? The DP-24 should act as Master and Logic as slave and I would like to transmit the MMC/MTC from the DP. Do you have maybe any idea how to do it properly? I got the MMC working but no luck with MTC. Thanks

Somehow, I fooled around with the emulation (probably Mackie) and I was able to get the DP-32 to move faders, pans, and EQ functions in Cakewalk, 8 faders at a time, like the X-Touch (Behringer).

These days I use Reaper with a digital console and moving fader automation. I do not mix in the DAW; I use the audio engines of the console and move the faders on the console while the DAW levels remain constant.

The older DP machines do output MIDI so if you can get that into the PC and into your DAW, it's a matter of finding what emulation works with it. Basically its Mackie or HUI. I did not do any mapping so it was working with a standard config. Hope this helps.
OKAY... it is time to brag on MJ for his wizardry on mastering one of my songs. I recorded it over 25 years ago on my Tascam reel to reel. I would like to upload the song here, but, at this time, I don' t know how to do that, so I will paste the Soundcloud address... https://soundcloud.com/robert-monahan-1/the-backstreets-of-my-heart.

Is there a way to check the available space on a 32MB sd card?

Easy with a computer. The DP machine will give you an estimated recording time left indicator on the Multitrack screen.
Hey mjk, I sent you an email about a week ago, but didn't hear from you. Can you answer this question? Many years ago I recorded one of my songs on an older Tascam recorder, but, sadly, I no longer have the source files. In retrospect, I realize that I mastered the vocal a bit strong for the accompanying instruments. Is there any way to affect the mix now by reducing the vocal to match the overall mix?

Hi Robert. I answered your email right away for I used my new studio email account. At any rate, yes, we can balance the mid and sides in Mastering. I'm traveling until the end of next week so after that I'm free to with in your tune. Thanks Robert.
Would you like your record mixed by an 80s Boston producer? Real console. Real automation. Real experience. info@phoenixmediaforge.com
    Hi mjk,
My name is Jeff, and just signed up to this forum. I am looking to purchase the new Tascam Model 12. I have been watching youtube videos about this deck/mixer. I read one review that said the effects cannot be used when mixing to the SD card during recording. Do you know if this is an accurate statement? Any Help will be Greatly Appreciated! Thanks! J.

I've never seen one as they haven't been imported to Taiwan yet. I suggest reading the user manual and finding seeing if you can figure that out from the manual. You're welcome to post in the Model 24 forum and ask as many questions as you like.
