244 fader

Hi all,

I'm working on a Tascam 244 and having a problem with one channel. I've switched its position around to ensure the channel card is the issue, and it is.

I could only hear a faint signal at one position on the fader, but after dismantling to clean it I can no longer get any signal at all.

Does this sound like a common issue others have experienced? And is there anything I should watch out for if I attempt to dismnatle and reassemble?

Did you put the fader together correctly and measure if the resistance changes? taking cheap alps parts apart is not the best way to service this and often times the part when damaged has to be replaced. The faders get things put on the anything from headphone to cassette deck and people wonder why they fail. The substrate can be cracked.
A experienced Technician can take these apart and service them but then he measures the output with a meter before putting it back in.
