I was setting the bias level for some new tape on my 48 today. Went about it the usual way: counterclockwise to minimal level, clockwise to peak and then continue clockwise until the level dropped 4 db. But when I went to manual to check that level drop number I saw that the instructions say to turn COUNTERCLOCKWISE from peak to get the level to drop. This didn’t seem right. I checked the docs for the 58, 38 and the 42. All said to continue CLOCKWISE from peak.
Is there something unique about the 48OB bias adjustment or is the manual wrong?
