Blinking lights

All the lights do go through a cycle check on start up and settle to their last state and stay there. It’s just the lights to the far left under “FS” and “Ext Clock” that’s flickering. I did get a new LCD. Should be here Tuesday or Wednesday. I will let you know what happens. Still can’t figure how to upload pictures even from the app Peter sent. I’m going to try again. Thank you so much

Ah - I must have missed that in your first post!
I've never seen those flash myself, but I think this can be explained much easier: The previous owner probably ran the desk from an external clock source and now that clock is missing, so there is no sample rate (FS) the desk can set to. Should be an easy one, once you can read the LCD again.. ;)

@Jerome Williams Uploading photos to a hosting service is pretty straightforward. You need to be patient. 1) Click on New Post 2) Drag the desired image to the area that clearly states "Drop images here" 3) Once that is done click on Copy link. 4) Go back to your Forum post click on the Link symbol 5) Paste the URL that you copied earlier from the Imgur site. 6) Continue to Add Images if you wish 7) Repeat from Step 3. 8) I hope that I haven't missed anything

I hope so. It WOULD be a deal for sure if all it needs is a LCD. He said he used it for live performance in the beginning then home studio. He didn’t say in what capacity. We’ll see.

@Jerome Williams By the way and I hope that you don't mind me asking. You mentioned having purchased a replacement LCD. What, from who, how much? That could be helpful to others who are experiencing similar issues.

It was off fleebay. There’s lots of parts on there. He said it’s brand new that he purchased from Tascam for $200

Got it for $150. I bidded $150 and no one else bidded. I’m hoping all this works out. I was trying to trade one of my bass guitars and cash for a DM4800 but that fell though. I’m looking for a FireWire card if you know anyone. They’re on there also but for $600. Can’t afford that much

A screen for 150 dollars? Well i bought mine under the model MG3224C3-SBF from Ebay and i believe it's the same screen and it did fit right. Just one problem, some screens come with a shorter cable so you should ask for a longer one (it must be like 10 centimeters or something) otherwise you'll have problems plugging it but still you can.
Rather than paying 300 dollars for a 2seemy, i would buy a new screen but let's don't forget it seems to be a chronic problem that almost every screen for this mixer will eventually have lines.

Thank you for your input.
The cables appears to be the length of the width of the screen. Seem to be the same as what's in there now. I opened it to see what I'm faced with. It whould be here Wednesday.

I'm talking about one big long cable you plug to mainboard of mixer. If it's short, it gives you problems plugging in, you'll know what i'm talking about if you get one :)

From what I've seen, there's one cable attached and the othe cable is connected to already to the unit. Am I wrong?

No you're right but it's like i remember two cables, one for the lighting. The other one goes to mainboard. It's pretty simple though my gf plugged it :) You'll be okay don't worry. You think mixer is in good condition?

I'll find out once the LCD is up and running. There's some blinking lights going on that no one seems to understand why. The fades and all the lights run throught their cycle and rest.
I'm hoping the screen will tell me where the problem is. I'll reset it to factory and go from there.

If I'm reading correctly, it sounds like only the FS lights are blinking which would indicate that the mixer isn't locking. This is probably due to the mixer being configured to lock with an external unit rather than internally (which will be hard to confirm with your screen being unreadable).

I finally got the screen in place and init factory setting.
the alert I'm getting is "The audio device is not operating normally. All sound Stopped.
Please contact Tascam Service"
Any ideas. the lights are still flashing.

I think what you can still do is run all possible diagnostic tests. While holding 3 buttons: SHIFT and OUTPUT ASSIGN 1 and 2, power up the mixer. Now you're in diagnostic mode and you can do all listed tests.. Hope it helps!

I’ll give a shot a let you know. Still can’t figure out the posting pictures thing yet. I can use it as a control surface but not as an audio mixer or interface.
