Tascam DA-3000
I have been looking for a decent ADC for a while now so i can connect my turntable to the ADC, then via coaxial spdif to my Cambridge Audio (CA) 851C, to test how it sounds while upsampling. I would then connect via xlr to the Tascam and record.

I know the Tascam is a ADC also. So can i connect my turntable to Tascams RCA inputs, then feed the Tascams coaxial out to the CA coaxial in, then CA xlr outs to the Tascams xlr ins and record.

I feel like this is not possible but i am not technical so wanted to ask before I buy a separate ADC.

Thanks

I have had a reply from Tascam but they are not clear so any help still would be welcome.

The analog and digital out of the DA-3000 will reflect the selected input, the digital and analog inputs are not independently usable. You can’t use the digital inputs of the Tascam as a DA converter on the signal while simultaneously recording a different, post-CA analog signal via the analog xlr inputs. It will record whichever input you select, and that input’s signal will be at both the analog and digital outputs.

If I understand your scenario, you would need two TASCAM recorders. So I would use the turntable into the CA into the Tascam, whether you record analog or digital.

You’re very welcome - please keep us posted !

also, there are lots of choices for good A/D converters these days and I bet you will get a bunch of different opinions if u ask for recommendations! :)

Thanks. Yes i have the Cyp AU-D4. I could not find many at all apart from basic ones on Amazon. So happily take any recommendations.
