Hello. I hope someone is able to answer my question:
I record my band rehearsals with the DR-40. We are a 3-piece that plays folk/rock. Occasionally I will get random "whump" sounds on the recordings. They sound sort of like someone briefly blowing directly into the mics and have a lot of bottom end.
I use the internal mics and have tried them in both A-B and X-Y positions.
I have tried different rooms and positions within the rooms at this particular studio.
We are not the loudest band in the world, but I wonder if the device is just not designed to handle the SPL in a live rehearsal. I notice the sound happens fairly consistently a second or two after I give the kick drum a particularly hard hit, but also when I don't.
Any ideas would be appreciated! Thanks.
