External mic won't work - DR-05 faulty?

Hi,

I just bought a tascam dr-05 and a rode lav mic. The lav mic has no battery and runs by phantom power I assume. It says it's a smart mic for phones but can't see why it won't work for my recorder?

Anyways I've tried my video mic and that doesn't work either. There is literally no audio coming through and if it does its crackly and not usable. The on board mics with the tascam work perfectly though so it's not the recorder itself.

I've turned on the mic power in the tascam as both external mics are not powered by a battery.

Can anyone help?

Rode LAV mic for phones is a 4 pin connection. The DR-05 uses a 3 pin connector.
You probably need the Rode SC3 adapter.

Yes - I have this adapter, and it still does not work.

Try setting the DR-05 to record in mono.
