Hello all, I love my FW 1082, and when it works, it works Great.

BUT, the syncing to my computer (firewire wise - I believe) is buggy.
Sometimes the firewire light blinks on my fw-1082, then I know I didn't connect.
And sometimes the light is constant, but I have an audio conflict in my sonar 7 sofware.
And other times it works great for days.

So, I'm wandering if this is a firewire card issue, and if my setup can handle a fw800 card of just the old fw400? I have sonar 7 running on windows 7, 32 bit, 4gb (app. 5 years old computer).

Aslo, what type of firewire card is good? I've read anything with a TI chipset.

Thanks to anyone who took the time to read this, happy recording.

With the Tascam FW-1884, a FireWire card with a TI chipset is critical, so I suspect it may be the same for you. Both units were made when there was no FireWire 800, so I don't know if that would even work.

My FireWire card is many years old, but it was by Adaptec.

I don't believe SONAR has anything to do with the quality of your connection.
