Fw1884 Firewire over Thunderbolt 3 ?

My pc motherboard has died and I have chosen to go down the laptop route.
My question is - Should my Fw1884 firewire work connected to a thunderbolt 3 hub with a fire wire port ? O/s is Windows 10.
Has anybody got a Firewire soundcard working over thunderbolt 3 ?

I don't have an answer to your specific question, but when I want to continue using older stuff - hardware or software - I stay somewhat dated, so that I know it'll continue to work.
In the case of my own Tascam FW-1884 & FW-1882, I decided on buying a super powerful off-lease workstation class PC at a great price, complete with Win 7 64 bit Pro, 12 cores & 48 GB ram. The PC has firewire with a TI chip. My Tascam's work like a charm with it.

If your current PC was cutting the mustard, you may also consider just replacing the motherboard.
