How to assign stereo tracks 13/14-23/14 on DP 24

Obviously you have to add two mics are a stereo keyboard, etc on these tracks but I cannot get them to assign. What am I doing wrong. I'm attempting to do it the same way you assign mono tracks, but it is not working. HELP! The manual say you can connect them as A,A; A,B; B,B; B, etc. What does that mean?

Hit assign button, hit select button for destination track 13, hit input A source button, then hit input B source button while still holding down select button on your destination track and you will see the assignment screen show AB instead of AA. After this is done it might cause your channels to hard pan left and right so don't be alarmed when each input comes out of one side of you cans or speakers. You can fix it in the mixer if it's a big problem
