Model 24 repair - anyone have experience w TAP Electronics?

My Model 24 is about 1.5 years old, and now channel 5 has no output. The input works fine, signal is recorded to the SD card, the meter shows signal, and it is there when checking the card from a computer. But the channel doesn't output through the main mix (yes, the main mix button is pressed in, and fader up).

Has anyone had any experiences with sending a unit in for repair? I completed the online form at Tascam, and received a response from TAP Electronics, their factory service center for Tascam USA. I'm curious how much it cost, since it's out of the 1-year warranty and they didn't give me an estimate.

1 year does not cover the reasonable life expectancy of such a device. Contact your business advice or consumer affairs department, whatever it is called over there. I know in Australia 'a reasonable life expectancy' over rules any arbitrary warranty period a manufacturer tries to push.
