Porta-two won't power on

Hey guys, it's my first time posting, and I hope this is in the right place.

I own a Porta II 4 track. I plugged it in yesterday and it wouldn't power on at all. I'm not sure where to start, other than going out and buying 10 C batteries and seeing if it'll work that way.
What do you guys recommend?

Hi Billy,
The way I would start is check voltage of the power adapter- if it is there then open unit and see if the voltage is transferring through the connector- many can become broken as in unsoldered without a person knowing it. Then if that is not it then see if the voltage is getting to the voltage regulator- I have had a few burn out over the last 30 years. Also check transport function as some times a power LED will go out but the power is still in the deck. The unit if not freshly serviced recently probably needs a looking over anyway- belts and new grease in the mechanism. I used to work on these at the Chicago Factory Service (Arlington Heights IL)- I still work on them now.
