Hello all. I hope that I am posting in the appropriate section. A short while back I began a thread in the TASCAM DM-3200 & DM-4800 sub forum. Well, it finally happened. My gear is gone. I am sure that I will feel the loss for a while.

I find myself posting here today looking for advice / suggestions on what I am going to replace the DM-4800 with. If such a thing is possible. Here is what I am leaning towards at the moment. Please feel free to chime in. Your time and guidance will be greatly appreciated.

We sold a fairly large property where I used the entire basement for my project studio. Control and live rooms. That is no longer the case as we have moved into a fairly large 2-story condominium. It is very different. And now find myself working out of a room whose dimensions are approx. 16' D x 14 feet W.

I had to start somewhere and knew that I definitely could not use anything as large as the Argosy Series 70 that I had so I picked up a Glorious Sound Desk Pro. Here is a link to the manufacturers website.

In the event that my wife and I should choose to move again it is important that mobility take priority.

Glorious Sound Desk Pro.

Option 1:

I was looking at the SSL 18 as a decent audio interface.

Solid State Logic SSL 18

And the Presonus Fader Port 16 as my control surface.

Fader Port 16 DAW Controller

Option 2:

Tascam Model 16 or 24 (This most likely would require more furniture which I am not keen on acquiring)

Tascam Model 16

Tascam Model 14

Thank you in advacne. Peter

Hello Peter. I can't speak knowledgeably to any of your interface options, other than to mention that the TASCAM Model 16 and 24 are analog front-of-house mixers with onboard recording capability. The have minimal stand-alone editing, and no mastering capabilities because they've been designed for use with a D.A.W. The big plus, IMO: no latency issues when tracking, and completely "hands on" knobs and faders.

This Sweetwater video is a very good overview of the intended use of the Model series.
