Hi guys, is it possible to turn off the recording at -6 on the DR-40. When recording out from my mixer I watch my levels consistently and it causes extra work having to increase the gain again at the end of a recording. I can't find any options in the manual of on the device itself.

Thanks in advance

I’m not sure of what you’re asking...

The DR-40 does have an option of “Dual-recording”, where it can make two separate files for a recording, one of which is a second copy of the recording at -6dB.

See pages 54-56 in the manual here:

Is it possible you have the Dual-recording option turned on, and are accessing the -6dB file?

Thanks for your help. I see that you can do the dual record option but there's an AUTO LVL option but I'm not sure what this would do, other than the system try to accommodate and reduce the input level.

AUTO LEVEL - update - seems to be freestyle so I'll get a second copy of my recording each time which is not an issue. Think I'll try this out and watch for peaks on my mixer. I always prefer to record loud than quiet and boost later.
