Upgrading IF-FW/DMmkII driver

I have a 2010 Mac Pro running 10.13.6 High Sierra. My DM 4800 has the mill FW card and two adat cards installed. I have downloaded the drivers and firmware updates received from this site. I am grateful for those files. My FW card shows a :eek:k connection status but 1394 offline no matter what I do.

I have read about not connecting the FW cable while the board is powered on. I have read that other people are running High Sierra with the DM 4800 and the FW operating just fine. I have read the manual 3 times at lest with the occasional skimming of different resources. I just spent $1900.00 and would love to be able to continue my studio. I also need assistance with step by step on how to upload the firmware for the mixer in the event that I cannot get the FW working properly. Please help guys

I also have a 2010 Mac Pro with High Sierra with the same DM4800 configuration. I originally had the same problem that you describe. I posted the solution on a different thread but I have quoted it below:
"For what it's worth, the key to having my DM recognized on my Mac was in the Security and Privacy tab in the system preferences. The General tab required me to manually authorize the Tascam/Teac driver."
I had to perform the same procedure for the driver to my Presonus 192.

Yes, In the end I solved my issues by disabling a security setting on my MAC that automatically disables software downloads it deems does not come from the mac store and therefore a virus.... ?? quite a simple and silly problem after trying literally everything else.

Thanks guys I am still having this issue after making corrections, and verifying that there are no security holds. I still got the same message in my DM
CARD: ok
1394: Driver Offline
I just got new (to me) gear.

Apogee Rosetta, BLA Sparrow
BLA Microclock, BLA Premium AVID Mbox Pro. UAD Quad PCIe (I like what the Apollo stuff does but not the way it sounds however still got the plugins with my desired conversion AD/DA because I know how I want the end result to sound and I get exactly that with this setup- ok enough gear porning.. lol
Im not sure what I am missing but I really have to start mixing and get my album oit there. I just pirchased a Distrokid producers license.

Hello, can you tell me where did you get the driver download for the FW card. I’m using High Sierra and I cannot find the driver download. If you can help, I would appreciate it... blessings

Since the DM is working fine on High Sierra for me, there must be some difference between your setup and mine. Could you provide some more details regarding your Mac and how the DM is connected? Like direct on FW or with any adapters.
I have a DM that’s working fine with High Sierra but I can’t find a driver for the DM. Do you have any advice on this?

Is there anyone who steer me in the right direction to get the FireWire driver for High Sierra. I have a mode 2010 Mac Pro desktop that was El Capitan. I haven’t used or connected the FireWire yet but I can’t find it on the Tascam website. What I tried to get said it’s no longer supported or something to that affect.

Hello Peter,
Thank you for your reply. You’ve been very helpful.

I recently acquired a FW card that perhaps isn’t working but I would like to check it out. I have never used the FireWire slot but from what I do believe to understand, I need to download the driver in order for it to work. Which driver would I need. At the moment I need to get a new hard drive for the Mac. I will give it a try. Thank you so much

Hello Peter,
I installed the card and went to digital to see the card. The status shows Card-ok 1394-no cable which all true.
Input From the computer-32 tracks
Out To the computer-32 tracks
Version Firmware Ver 1.10Build#88685.
From this, can you tell what I need to do once I am connected online again?

@Jerome Williams I could be wrong, but I believe that you may already be using the latest firmware. Do you have your DM plugged into your computer's FW port?

What do mean when you say: "once I am connected online again?"

My hard drive died on my Mac and I’m waiting for a new one. When I said online, I was speaking of up and running and connected to the internet if I need to download a driver. I will contact you once I have everything set up. Until then, I will probably wasting your time but don’t get me wrong, I do appreciate all your help at anytime. I do have a question that I have searched out but not sure. Is it easy to use the internal effects. Just using it on a channel. I do have a manual downloaded but some of this is hard to understand

@Jerome Williams I understand. You are not wasting my time. Glad to help when I am able to. Using the effects is a breeze once you get the hang of it. Look in the files section. Some very helpful write ups there

@Peter Batah
File section?
Also what exactly is the TMC Companion? I see it talked about but I don’t know if I have it because I don’t know what it is. Do I have/need it?

I will check it out. I know how to find and load them. I figured out eq, compressor, etc. Just can’t figure out how get effects to work. I will get it I’m sure. I just don’t understand the aux-buss thing.

Thank you
I think I found this on here after you mentioned it. I will plug in a mic tomorrow and mess around with it. This is so helpful
