  • Hello you are the saint ive searched for. On one of my Tascam 244s has the problem with the broken joint. I've read in a post that you had some 3D printed ones still avaible and I would be so thankful if you could provide me with 1 or 2. I'm out of Germany and as a Techenthusiast and musician I would thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Hello, do have any reel to reel decks for sale at this time, preferably any thing in the REAC / Tascam line up, thanks
People I do not come here as often as I am on the Reel to Reel Clinic on Face Book. It would be good for you to join us there.
Hi Patrick, It is most likely hard grease in the feedback PCB or in other parts of the mechanism. It is not only a gear or belt.
Hey skywave, I have a 688 that won’t play tapes.. the heads will jump out like they’re ready to go, but after a second (and no playtime) they revert back.
I believe the culprit to be the gear C. What would be your input on this?
Hi I have a Tascam 48-OB "L" that runs at cassette speed. I've been told it was for courtroom logging. To your knowledge, is there a way to get it up to 15 ips? Or can you point me in the right direction? Thanks

I have one here too and have not converted it yet so it is unknown territory- might need a new motor.
Tascam 122 MKii pitch control pot. I noticed your reply regarding a work around for this pot “ I found a great plastic conductor pot”. Where did you source this pot? Pickings are slim for 100K center tapped linear pots as I can’t find anything like it. It’s been quite frustrating.

It is a 3 terminal pot from Mouser or Digikey but it is not tapped and you have to modify the board to present the tap section.
The 44OB is an excellent deck nut the bias oscillators might have gone out or may have been disabled. I have know some places to things like
I "inherited" a Tascam 44OB from the AV Dept at the WI Dept of Transportation that was headed for the dump. It plays a tape that has material on it but when I record I hear complete silence on playback. The meters move with the source material. FUNCTION SELECT and REC lights are on. Do you own, or do you know of, a repair shop in the southern WI or northern IL area where I could have the unit serviced?
Hello, A dear friend of mine passed away and I would like to give his family a group of recordings he made on my long lost Portastudio 244. Can anyone rent me one or be willing to transfer my 4 track DBS recordings to MP3 for a reasonable fee? I only have a handful of cassettes. Thanks
Past Tascam Lead Service Technician from Arlington Heights Factory Service. Still doing these repairs. Lots of them.
