DP-24SD
Hi,

I'm fairly new to home recording. Bought a DP-24SD recently and am encountering a (fairly faint) persistent background hiss monitoring through headphones, even with all faders -- even the monitor level knob iirc, lol -- all the way down. Is my unit screwed up? More importantly, is this just a headphone thing? Will my mixdown WAVs keep this hiss? Thanks all.

Welcome to the forum. This is a well-known problem and has been discussed many times - you can search the forum to find answers to most things :) Just click the Search Forums button and then click Site Results - see screen shot below for results for "dp24 hiss".
Bottom line is the hiss is only from the headphone amplifier; it will not appear on recordings. The monitor outputs on the back of the machine have the same signal as the headphones, but do not pass through the headphone amp. This means you can take a feed from here through your own headphone amp if the hiss is too disconcerting.
