DI Bass EQ

I had a 2488 Neo for many years, and nearly always recorded my P Bass directly connected to the deck. Without changing/adjusting EQ it sounded just perfect. In the year now that I've had the DP24SD, I've struggled with what feels like an unreasonable amount of almost subwoofer frequencies on the bass (same bass, same monitors). I try to roll it off, but seem to loose the punch when I do that. FWIW, mostly folk/country kinds of songs. I'm just not into the ultra low frequencies - looking more for that 70's Leland Sklar midrange feel.

Perhaps I need to better understand how to utilize frequency specific compression on the DP24? Thanks -
