DM24
after a really long break (my former ID is cancelled meanwhile) I just like to post that I finally got it running....

For years I kept an PC with Windows XP 32 bit to keep Cubase 4 working together with the DM24 via the IF-FW DM. With Windows 7 / 8 or 10 I got the fw connection running but in Cubase there were no ports/channels visble because of a ASIO / WDM driver problem.
I refused to buy a new mixer just because of not having "windows signed drivers"......

With Windows in test mode and a tool (instead of a DOS command line) to sign drivers I got the original tascam drivers working.
Cubase 7.5 32 bit: 24 ch in + out, without further workarounds
Cubase 7.5 64 bit: you have to activate "WDM on all channels" via the IFFW DM driver tool

with XP and Cubase 4 I had drop outs, system hangs etc etc
now it´s very stable

Hi Peter,

I’ve struggled to get the mixer (drivers)working in a 64bit DAW, so I read you post with interest. Can you provide information on the driver signing ‘tool’ you used, plus the version of tascam drivers? Also, what’s the score with the test mode? Is it only for the driver signing, or is it a requirement to run the drivers.

Thanks in advance,

Pete

Hi Pete,
sorry for the delay, I was in holidays...
Actually I do:
Recording with Cubase 7.5. 32 bit with 24 ch in + out because:
with 64 bit + WDM on all channels + ASIOforAll driver I noticed instabilities
So for me the most stable workaround with 24 ch in/out is recording in 32 bit.
Parallely I installed Cubase 64 bit - for mixing etc

If You need only 8 ch (in/out) you can use the 64 bit workaround.

The TASCAM drivers work in 64 bit but you have to sign them (see below) with a tool

Firstable you have to put Windows in Testmode - please make a www search or like this:

similar (plus a workaround for Edirol UA25....):

this helped partially:

Youtube:

The tool:

search for "dseo13b"
You need to locate the TASCAM 64 bit driver locations for both the firewire and the Asio driver and sign them with the tool. May be you need to restart Windows.

Hi Peter,

Thanks for your reply, and I hope you had a good holiday.

I'm going to digest your information and give it a go this week. I'll report back with my findings, but I'm away from Sunday, so apologies in advance for any delay.

Take care,

Pete

Hi Peter,

Well, after going through your steps carefully, I am still unable to get my 64bit DAW to see the IF/FW drivers. Not sure if you have any suggestions, but as it stands, I may have to look for another interface.

Thanks for all you help, Peter.

Pete
