The headphone jack on the DP24DS is recessed so when I plug in my Stanton Dynaphase Sixty headphones, they doesn't go in all the way and I only hear 1 channel. Was this designed to only work with certain 1/4" headphone types on purpose? Is there some type of 1/4" adaptor I can buy that will allow me to use my current(vintage) headphones?

You could just use a 1/4" 90 degree stereo adapter on the head phone jack. That should provide you the clearance you need for that plug. I use them on my DP-24 and DP-32. It also helps to provide some degree of protection form inadvertently hitting the plug when it would normally be jutting straight out from the jack.
