Effects mix down

Is it possible to turn effects on/off during mix down? I want effect for into but then switch to dry. In the mixer screen but mix down will not trigger until I’m on home screen. Losing my ability to switch

Probably the easiest way to accomplish that would be to record the effects on a stereo track and control the tracks during mixdown.
