Neo 2488
I am helping a friend with his Neo 2488. The unit itself is broken, but he pulled the hard drive out.
I can hook the hard drive into my linux machine (either straight through IDE or via a usb>IDE adapter) and see the 8gig swap space, but the rest of the drive is listed as "unallocated".

Is there a way to access this portion of the drive directly?

Probably not. The 2488's partitioned the disk, and only that small partition is non-proprietary. You might want to email Tascam about it.

Concur with RustyAxe, you will only be able to access FAT32 partition data. The remainder of the drive will show as unallocated. I have tried almost every disk utility in my arsenal to read these drives without much success. If you have irreplaceable information on that drive you will have to contact TASCAM for help/support.
