hi,

Is it possible to use the eq of the tascam DM3200 in remote layer with cubasetracks?
I'm mixing IN the box.

Hope someone can help.

Greetz,
Arnold.

Nope. You can only use the EQ/ Comp stuff on the first 48 tracks. Not in the remote layer.

Well for such a BIG digital mixer with so much routing options it's strange that this is not possible.
For the record...I'm very happy with my Tascam DM 3200.
I'm only use it with Cubase 8... So now it is a luxe controller.

Thanks Jamsire for you're answer.

Greetz,
Arnold.

Remote says it all - control the software within the software. I still say mixing ITB is so limiting for that console. I take all 32 FW tracks into the console and use ALL of the EQ/ Comp it has to offer - even the built in effects. I never use the remote layer.

Jamsire, do I trade al my great plug-ins that I use now in the box, for a few effect that is in the tascam dm3200?
Or can I use my plug-ins also mixing out the box?

You keep doing what you're doing - I was only answering your question. I never suggested a "trade-off." I love the sound of the my board and all it has to offer because it allows to mix in a way that has become my sound.

I'm a product specialist for quite a few software plugin companies - I have a LOT of plugins. But I only use them on the road giving demonstrations and for teaching in the classroom with prepared mixes. But at home, I rarely use them because I like to hear my mixes come through 32 separate channels with EQ/ Comp, my outboard gear of classic and sophisticated modulation effects in conjunction with board effects - the joyous sound is amazing to me.

The board is deep and I like diving.

Good luck!

It was not my intension to offence you.
I am happy with you're help.
So excuse me.
My english is not that good so maybe I choose the wrong words.
Anyway.....THANKS Jamsire!!

Not offended at all in any way, and I understood you perfectly.

You just have to find a way that the board works - for you. That's what I did and I have to tell you - it's a powerful piece of gear for me. I've gotten to the point where the computer is merely acting like a tape machine that only records and plays back my tracks. I record in a way that I try to have the very least amount of edits, which allows me to have more time working on the mix. I'm tough on my talent who wants me to fix this, fix that - so I make THEM fix themselves!!

I mix with the board automation and I mean EVERYTHING is automated in the board - even the EQ/ Comp, Snapshots, and effects! Powerful stuff.

Again, no offense taken - just gout there and make great music.

Arnold, I'm not sure what you are trying to achieve. Your question is; can I use DM EQs in the remote layer? - answer is no - suggestion about mixing out of the box is made - you reply you don't want to do without your ITB plugins. What if the initial answer was 'yes'? If we know what you want to do we may be able to help..

BTW, using DAW plugins and the DMs EQ both is perfectly possible. I use both all the time, but I do mix on the board..

Count me in as a hybrid DM user.

I'm using my DAW with a plethora of plugins, mixed through the DM with all of its capabilities.
Often, I'll prefer the sound of the DM comp or EQ for a specific track.
So nice to have the on board access.

Having the combination of DAW and DM is a wonderful thing.
So many possibilities.

If it hasn't been said clearly enough, Arnold you can mix OTB while using your DAW plugins as you do now.

Indeed. Having access to either - or both - DM channels and DAW plugins is one of the biggest reasons to work OTB.

And yet - n0 matter how many times this is stated - there will always be users who prefer to use the DM strictly as a controller. And that's fine, so long as that choice isn't based on an urban legend ('sound degradation, etc) or some other faulty logic.
