244 Rewind Problem

Hey guy,

My 244 has an issue, the rewind doesn't seem to have the power to pull the tape. If you flip the cassette then the rewind works but the fast forward in struggling.

Any ideas behind the cause?
Anyone know where I can find a service manual?

It could be the Idler tire is worn and the cam system has some dried grease in it that stops the correct position of the fast wind mode. I am just now finishing a 246 that is on the bench and it works 100% but I did have to change a Tact switch on the keyboard.

Could be the fast wind belt- they do stretch with age. The deck should be checked with an MTT160 tape to see how bad it is. I still work on them in Chicago area.
