2488 cd writers

Well it looks like my cd writer crapped out and I need to get a new one for the 2488. Anyone know which are compatible/ not compatible? Any lists out there?

Hi,
the MK1 uses either the CRW5232A4 cd drive (some on eBay) or the CD-W552GB drive (a few, but not many on eBay!) The MK2 and NEO also use the CD-W552GB. I've heard of other types being used sucessfully but don't know the details. I believe that for the MK1 to use the CD-W552GB it needs the latest firmware release (v1.2).
