Hey, new to the forums, hoping to find some help for my recently acquired 488 mkii that's having some issues.
When a tape is initially inserted the head/pinch roller all begin to move up and down, up and down, not fully engaging. I hit play, the heads and pinch roller engage fully, the Play/Pause/Record lights all blink, and when Play is pressed again it will play but the tension is so high that the speed drags. When stopped the heads continue to move up and down, even when Rewinding/FForwarding which causes the tape to slow down as it rewinds at regular intervals.
What is the ghost in my tascam? Please help! I can make a video if necessary.
