Alesis LX-20 as a A/D converter via lightpipe?

Hi, I really like the US-366, so far it has worked like a charm with reaper. One the reasons I bought the US-366 was I wanted to use an ADAT setup I have in hopes of getting 8 addition channels into the Reaper DAW at the same tme via the optical output from a Alesis LX-20 into the optical input of the US-366. So far I cannot get the US-366 to accept the signal from the ADAT output? Any thoughts or suggestions would be welcomed. Many Thanks, songcrafter1028
