- Tascam FW-1804
well I didn't receive any support on my first post here, which was disappointing, but I am hoping that this will be an issue someone else has run across and can help me with.
I fixed my FW-1804. It is now working and I seem to have a solid Firewire signal since I installed a dedicated Firewire card. I am using Windows XP SP3. The issue I run into is that when the Tascam is on, and the FW-1804 is set as the audio output source (Analog 1+2), I get no sound out of the system (but the inputs are routing properly for my synthesizers, I can hear those through the studio monitors when I have Both selected to monitor). If I try and play a sound the application that tries to play it, whether it is Winamp, Foobar, Acid 2.0, FL Studio, Ableton, or even Windows sounds, will lock up and become unresponsive.
I have tried uninstalling the driver. I have made sure I'm on the latest driver Tascam released, 1.80. reinstalling has not fixed it. Device manager reports that the device is working properly. I tried installing ASIO4All but that has not helped the issue.
Is this a known issue with Firewire devices on Windows? Does anyone have any suggestions or solutions? I am on XP so with the driver installed it should just work, right? Is there a setting I need to change? I checked the mixer program, and in Control Panel->Sound the Tascam is set for output.
