Connect MIDI controller to DM-3200

Hello all.

I already have my external DAW's MIDI out connected to the MIDI in of my DM. I would like to incorporate an M-Audio Axiom 61 USB MIDI controller into my current setup.

Should I plug the midi out of the the Axiom 61 into the MIDI in of my DM's Fire Wire's expansion card? I would like to use it with VST Instruments. Perhaps a USB connection will suffice. Your input would be greatly appreciated. Peter

If you just want to use the Axiom with VSTs in your DAW, then keep it simple and connect the Axiom (MIDI Out) to the DAW (MIDI In) and forget the DM for this.

Yup, that's the way I have mine, Axiom 61 midi out into my midi in of interface (MOTU)
interface into Mac Pro via usb.

Well, hmmmm....

I use a MOTU MTPAV USB MIDI distribution rack unit where all my midi is set up, then it goes to and from the FW card. I use a KORG Kronos for my MIDI control.

@jamsire Thank you for you input sir. Always appreciated. Please correct me if I am wrong. If I want to use my Axiom 61 strictly for VST Instruments in Cubase shouldn't connecting the controller to my PC via USB cable suffice. Peter
