I didn't have much luck finding an answer in the sticky's, so I asked Chat GPT and below is what it gave me.
I wasn't able to use this either although it seemed like it was somewhat closer to what I'm trying to do.
I've had the DP-24 for a few years and am generally happy with it, however the direction book isn't very intuitive. I also have Phil's tutorial but am not having much luck with this.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Step-by-Step: Split One Long Project into Multiple Songs
1. Open your 15-minute project
Press SONG
Select the long project
Load it
2. Find the start of the first song
Use REW / FF or the jog wheel
Play until you hear where Song 1 begins
Set the IN point
Press IN/OUT
Press IN
(You’ll see the IN marker light up)
3. Find the end of the first song
Play or scrub to the end of that song
Set the OUT point
Press IN/OUT
Press OUT
Now you’ve marked exactly what you want to extract.
4. Copy that section into a new song
Press EDIT
Choose COPY
Select TRACK ALL (or only the tracks you need)
Set:
o FROM = IN
o TO = OUT
Choose DESTINATION = NEW SONG
Press YES / EXECUTE
The DP-24SD will create a brand-new song containing only that section.
5. Name the new song
Press SONG
Choose NAME
Give it the correct song title
6. Repeat for the remaining songs
For Song 2, Song 3, etc.:
Go back to the original 15-minute project
Set new IN / OUT points
Copy to NEW SONG
Rename
Important Tips (these save headaches)
Always copy, never cut
Cutting permanently removes audio. Copying keeps your master intact.
Clear IN/OUT points between songs
Press IN/OUT
Hold CLEAR (or re-set them)
This prevents accidental overlap.
Eects & mixes
Track eects copy over
Mix settings do not
You’ll need to remix or re-balance each new song.
Alternative Method (if tracks were recorded separately)
If each song was recorded on dierent tracks (not time-based):
You can simply mute unused tracks
Then mixdown each song separately
But for a continuous live recording, the IN/OUT method is best.
Final Result
You’ll end up with:
One original 15-minute master project
Several shorter, clean, individually mixable songs
