Hello everyone! This is my first post. Recently I purchased a Tascam DP-32sd portastudio. I recorded a few songs and transfered them to my pc. I use Sonar Platinum and Melodyne for editing. After I edited each track seperately, I moved them back to the sd card and imported them to DP-32sd. Everything seems good and sound nice, but the volume shows the light above zero (for peeking). Although everything I edited in my DAW was at least -0.2db, the DP-32sd shows the red light in every track... I am not sure if there is a real distortion in sound or is it something that I don't get it...

Until now, there is no problem. But I am thinking that maybe I will not be able to do proper mixing...

My questions are :
1. Is really a problem that the red light shows on tracks, although I know from the DAW that there was no sound over zero?
2. Is anyway to show the volume while moving the sliders up or down? (I mean the volume on the run)

Thank in advance, and I am sorry for the language mistakes (english isn't my first one after all!)

Leonidas

Welcome to the forum Leonidas. As far as I know, the red lights come on at 0dB so there is no problem as long as you're sure the files on the DAW were no higher than this. Commercial recordings show the same effect if you import them into the machine.
The advice re. not letting the lights flash red is for when you are processing signals within the machine as you can't tell the difference between reaching exactly 0dB or going over.
The fader values are shown in the mixer screen. Only the currently selected track is shown so just press the required track select button first.
Don't worry about the language - it was perfectly understandable :)
