Hi guys,

I'm very new to the Model 24 having upgraded from the good old Tascam Porta One (for those of you old enough to remember cassette tape). I did do a general Google search on my question which returned the answer "yes" but I'm having trouble believing it. My question:

"Does a DAW (in my case Reaper) transmit pan settings to the Tascam Model 24 via USB?"

Although the resident Google AI expert said "yes" my own ears and eyes say "no". I'd be very grateful if someone would tale pity on me (The Forum Thicko) and confirm whether the answer is yes or no? Please feel free to laugh at my question. My other nickname is MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Idiot)!

Many thanks, in advance.

No, Model 24 does not have DAW control. Model 12 and Model 2400 have DAW control.

Many thanks for replying.

I understand the Model 16/24 has no DAW control. However I'm talking about the signal output from the DAW to Model 16/24.

Clearly you can record the output coming from the DAW to the Model. I'm asking if things like pan, EQ etc transmitted from the DAW via USB to the Model can be recorded in the Model.

Thanks.

No. Audio only, no control of any type.

You did read the user manual, yes?

Many thanks for your reply and confirming this issue.

Yes, I have read the manual several times over and continue to read it. Some of us who are slightly maturer in age don't always grasp technical concepts as easily as we used to. I apologise for any frustration my ignorance may have caused.

@Mikka, I don't own one of these mixer/recorders, but IMO this Sweetwater video found in the "Tutorial and Informational Videos for the Model 24/16/12" sticky thread demonstrates what might be the ideal way to work with the Model 24 during mix-down.

The video discusses how to use, in real-time mix-down, D.A.W. plugins, automation, and editing on each track, and take advantage of all the mixer's features. ;)

The videos in that sticky thread are much easier to follow than the sometimes obtuse Model 16 and 24 owner manuals.
