Does Tascam FW1884 work as a PA mixer?

I'm new at all this pro audio stuff so don't judge me...

I bought a used Tascam FW-1884 a year or so ago only to find out it didn't work on my macbook pro due to the drivers being too old. It has been sitting in my music room ever since doing nothing. My question is, can it be used as a PA system mixer for live performances?

Yes and No. It can run in stand alone mode as an 8 channel in, 2 channel stereo out mixer with it's great preamps w/phantom power. There is no EQ though you have TRS insert jacks on each input that you could add EQ, or any other type of processor to.

You could get a used win7 laptop for $155.00 and then have EQ and all kinds of processing (dunno what a similar Apple laptop would go for).

BTW, have you checked this forum to confirm that it can't work with your PC?
